On the subject of nerdcore rap, have you listened to any MC Hawking? Especially "What we need more of is science" and "Fuck the creationists". (Although "All my shootings be drivebys" is a definite classic!)

I think it's because movie adaptations of comics are subject to the imagination of the people who make them. Not to say they aren't creative or anything but sometimes, what we have in our imagination when we read a book / comic just seems more amazing.

However, I found the movie version of Spiderman taking my imagination of the character to another level. I never thought swinging from building to building and walking on walls could be so dynamic and fun.

Btw, Felicia, I found this from a fitness website:

"Generally speaking, the harder the honey the better. The strength of the crystallization (hardness) determines the level of live-state nutrients and heat-sensitive enzymes. Some unprocessed honey is even sold with part of the honeycomb in the jar. Real honey also contains flavanones, flavones, and flavonols, known for their antioxidant activity."

from http://www.t-nation.com/free_online_article/sports_body_training_performance_nutrition/question_of_nutrition_vol_6

Just wondering if it that is true (especially about the hard honey bit).

Also, I remembered when I was a kid, my mum bought this bag of honey (yep, it came in a clear plastic bag) that was a yellowish cream in colour, soft but solid and had a grainy texture. I loved it but for the life of me I can't seem to find it anymore. I asked my mum but she's forgotten about it. So I'm wondering if you've any idea what sort of honey that is.

I may be too much of an idealist about good literature then. There's also a certain part towards the end of the comic (if you've read it you know what I'm talking about) that is just amazing. I have trouble believing that that will be nearly as well done if people see it in a movie before they see it in the comic.

I agree with Steph, movie first comic second is definitely the way to do it, as the comic (or novel, if we're talking about a book) is always a lot more complex and contains so much more than a film you're much less likely to be disappointed in a comic after having seen the film than vice versa.

And no, it's not been a particularly hard winter, but most beekeepers have some losses every year. Me and my dad are actually an exception as we have yet to lose a hive, but then we've only had four of them for a long time and this year we wintered 16, so the chances are pretty high that one or a few will die this year! We're getting more serious about beekeeping, want to try out new techniques and such, so knowing how many hives we'll have to work with will be good so we can actually start planning what to do in more detail. Also, we want to move four hives to an outyard and can't get permission for that until spring... ah, there's much to think of. ;)

Has it been a particularly hard winter that you're ready to find out how many survived, or is not overwintering a symptom of whatever is causing the decrease in bee numbers?

Joshua, if they've gotten this close to the movie without reading it, they're probably better off watching first and getting to enjoy the full depth of the comic afterward. If I have to choose, I almost always do them in that order.

I have a disturbingly large number of friends who a) have not read Watchmen and b) intend to see the movie without having read the comic first. This pains me.
